Classes
Classes are now available at the following venue:
Tuesday 8:00pm to 10.00pm
Additional (Black belt only) class once a month.
Classes are taught by Joseph Lillis Judan Shidoshi.
Class observation is by appointment only.
We accept beginners on an ongoing basis.
Classes are open to age groups of 16yrs and over.
Under 18's must get written permission from their parents or guardian.
We are a none profit Organisation, All money is used to aid the development of the Dojo
About Us
Bujinkan Shimboku Dojo is a small dojo based in Athlone Town Co.Westmeath Ireland.
The Dojo has been opened in Athlone official since April 2003. Our aim is to promote the teachings of Soke Masaaki Hatsumi Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu.
The Bujinkan Shimboku Dojo provides training in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, a system of classical Japanese martial arts of the Samurai and Ninja traditions. The Bujinkan system consists of 9 individual schools of classical martial arts providing the student the opportunity to study a wide variety of techniques. This also includes extensive training in a variety of traditional Japanese weapons including the Katana (sword), Bo (staff), and the Yari (spear) to name but a few.
With a traceable lineage of 34 generations of grandmasters dating back over 1000 years, and under the guidance of the current soke, Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi Sensei, Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu provides a versatile and dynamic martial system using the bodies own natural movement resulting in effective and powerful combat technique.
Including such skills of Dakentaijutsu (striking, kicking, and blocking), Jutaijutsu (throws, locks, grappling and counter techniques) and Taihenjutsu (body movement, rolling, leaping, and tumbling), Koppojutsu (bone breaking arts) Koshijutsu (muscle and nerve system attacking arts)and much more.
The dojo is an affiliate of the Bujinkan International Hombu dojo in Japan.
All instructors are registered with the Japanese Instructors Association (Bujinkan Shidoshi-Kai). Class observation by appointment only. Classes are open to age groups of 16yrs and over.
